The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has commissioned a food waste related project entitled: Reducing Commercial Food Waste in Ireland.
This project aimed to provide this key information in terms of commercial food waste generation in Ireland, and examined individual sectors and food waste types, along with potential best practices, and innovative solutions, for its reduction. Work was done with both individual companies and sectoral organisations within the identified sub-sectors in Ireland. Researchers examined the reasons behind commercial food waste and before trialling and assessing interventions to prevent and reduce commercial food waste amounts.
