Tralee Master Composter Training & Volunteer Programme

02 Oct - 23 Oct

The EPA Stop Food Waste Programme will be running a Master Composter training course in Tralee this autumn.

The course will appeal to people and groups interested in developing and implementing food waste prevention and composting projects in their communities.

It is free of charge, but requires commitment to being a Master Composter Champion in promoting food waste prevention and composting and spreading the word.

Participants will be supported in designing and delivering their community projects upon satisfactory completion of the programme.

The course will consist of 4×2.5 hour Wednesday evening sessions 7pm-9:30pm (indoors) and 2×2.5 hour Saturday morning sessions 10am-1pm (outdoors) on October 12th and November 2nd at which we will:

  • Learn about composting of food waste, garden waste and landscaping waste
  • Take part in the Stop Food Waste Challenge where participants will learn to identify the food wasted in their households, and to reduce it significantly
  • Plan and design community food waste prevention and composting projects
  • Get hands-on experience in composting
