Green beans / French beans

Buying

Unlike most of the other beans, the French beans are eaten with their pods. The beans you buy must be firm enough to snap into half easily.

Storing

You can keep your beans for a week in the fridge. For longer storage, you can either freeze or can them.

Freezing

Boil your beans for a few minutes in water, plunge them into ice water and pack them into containers before putting them in the freezer.

Freezer life

6 to 8 months.

Using up

Green beans can be eaten in many ways: fried, steamed, baked… They make a perfect vegetable side to any dish, but you can also mix them into a warming soup.
