Waste Watchers TV Programme

Waste Watchers TV Programme

Philip Boucher Hayes joined the businesses and residents of Killorglin in County Kerry as they attempt to Stop Food Waste.

In Ireland, we throw out one third of all the food we buy. Thats an average of €700 per household going from our wallets into the bin. For the Irish restaurant sector, its even worse. Its losing 125 million a year to food waste. But its not just about our individual pockets. Food waste is a global issue thats impacting on the environment and with the worlds population growing, so is the demand on food and food prices.

Things have got to change. The question is Where do we start?. The answer: with one Irish town leading the way.

Because if one Irish town can do it maybe the whole country can. Watch the full programme over on Vimeo.
